WCIT, the World Congress on Information Technology is regarded as the “Olympics” of global technology conferences – the largest and most prestigious international technology event among global IT leaders. WCIT2020 was planned to be the 24th edition of World Congress on Information Technology and it returns to Malaysia, the gateway to Southeast Asia. Taking into consideration of the current pandemic and to prioritise the safety and health of the people, The National Tech Association of Malaysia (PIKOM) and WCIT Steering Committee headed by Chief Minister of Penang took the decision to reschedule the physical conference to 2022.

With the decision to defer the physical conference, the Penang State, in the short interim, organised the TECHFEST Live! featuring ROAD-TO-WCIT Malaysia. The event came about when Penang embraced technology and brought this event online. Prior to the outbreak of this pandemic, Penang was to host the 24th World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) from 14 to 16 September this year at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre.

Penang – Reframe. Renew. Reimagine.

Penang, reframed, renewed and reimagined and took the step to go online, presenting a 3 days digital festival to be enjoyed both virtually and through specially curated physical events and live broadcasted conversations. The objective is to keep technology to its promise of bringing good to humanity. TECHFEST Live! featuring ROAD-TO-WCIT Malaysia aims to reach 3000 participants across 80 countries in the 3-day event. Exabytes as official web host

In view of the State’s efforts and determination in carrying-on with bringing out a digital festival this year despite of the Covid-19 pandemic, Exabytes is more than happy to be a part of this event as their official web host. By sponsoring a VMware Hosting for the event, a superior performance cloud hosting server, this ensures stability on all online activities for the event. The VMware Hosting is a fully resilient, secure and highly available managed cloud service. Unlike traditional hosting, VMware is not deployed on a single server, but it is a network of connected virtual and physical cloud servers that hosts the application or website, ensuring greater flexibility and scalability.
