Day 2 of the Exabytes Team Building 2014 event began with sumptous a nasi lemak breakfast to jump start the day before we headed our way to the obstacle run area by 4WD vehicles.
It was a fun ride tracking the forest in a 4WD towards the obstacle run area as for many of us were experiencing it for the very first time.
Soon the exciting ride ended and we found ourselves gathered near the field before moving onto the first part of the obstacle run, the “trust fall”.
An exercise regime was conducted in a series of warm-ups to better prepare Exabees for challenging feat.
Next, the trust fall kick-started as each team sent out a team member to perform a fall while the others do their best to capture him or her. This activity generated enormous trust and self-confidence for everyone, which are no doubt one of the most important elements at workplace.
Conquering the trust fall course, Exabees were then taught the art of commando carry, in which one person would attempt to carry another person over the shoulder. The person who was carried was required to pretend injury or unconsciousness and would be carried over a certain distance.
Then, we proceed to the riverside, where our next part of the obstacle run began with a balance course.
The balance course stressed on the importance of teamwork, cooperation and sharing of ideas in overcoming problems and reaching the goals.
In this course, two teams would be stationed at the opposite ends, before attempting to cross and reach the other side successfully. All team members must try their best to balance themselves for if a single team member fell down, the entire team must restart the whole process.
While many early attempts failed, one team had successfully hatched a plan and almost got everyone on the other side within the time limit. After that, it was decided that the teams would have to redo the course, only this time with the amount of time recorded for both teams to successfully finish the course.
Next, we headed towards the field for an activity usually done on family day. First, Exabees were divided into four lines and each of us were required to transfer a tennis ball to the back and front of the line.
The obstacle run ended and it was time to head back to our dormitories for the next agenda, the pride of Sedim Recreational Park, namely the magnificent Tree Top Walk.
The tree top walk which was a must try beheld a serene sight overlooking the rivers and greenery of the surroundings of the Sedim Recreational Park. As the tree top walk ended, it’s time for ‘makan-makan’ before the much awaited prize presentation and closing ceremony.
The hall was filled with cheers and laughter as Exabees shared their experience, the challenges they faced as well as the moments they truly cherished with one another.
Finally the winning teams were revealed. The team with the highest accumulated scores achieved at various activities would win the first prize. Check out our winners!
