The Tech Pitch 2022, Exabytes’ first pitching event, brought together more than 60 Penang tech startups, investors, funders and other collaborators to network and connect.
A business pitch is one of the most useful tools for every startup founder around the world. Whether or not an event gives funding to the startups, its value can’t be underestimated. A business pitch delivered at an event – whether a competition or solely networking event can catch the ears of a future employee, a key advisor, or even a potential investor.
Thankfully, The Tech Pitch 2022 is the best platform for like-minded entrepreneurs to attend and experience business pitches. This event is hosted and of high quality, with a strict 3-minute presentation for each startup.
Organised by InvestPenang and Exabytes, the event focuses on tech innovative projects, products and services with a social aspect. Besides, AWS was invited as a strategic partner to share about AWS Startups Programme to help startups scale their business’ infrastructure.
Furthermore, in conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of Industrialisation in Penang celebration, the event aims to encourage local startups to present their business ideas and gain investors’ recognition, funding and other benefits to empower further growth of their startup venture.
The event started with a welcoming speech by Mr Ken Tang, Senior Vice President of Exabytes group.
The speech was followed by Dato’ Seri Lee Kah Choon – Chairperson, 50th Anniversary of Penang’s Industrialisation Celebration Organising Committee
After Dato Seri’s speech, the startups were ready to start the game.
In total, we had 19 local tech startups who pitched at the event. They were separated into 5 different groups followed by a 5-minute Q&A session for each group.
To help the startups get a better experience at preparing their pitches, the startups were told to prepare a 3-minute presentation, surrounding:
- Company Overview
- Products and/or Services Offered
- Business Model
- Traction to-date
There was a timer, and the Exabytes team kept it strict when the pitcher hit its 3-minute mark.
Challenge on!
Although quite a number of startups did not manage to complete their pitches in the allocated 3 minutes, they gained great experience at last.
