On the morning of 28 March 2026, a powerful sense of purpose filled the air at the Home of Hope in Penang. What began as a gathering of runners, supporters, and partners quickly became something much more meaningful, a united movement driven by compassion, resilience, and hope.
The flag off of Run for Gold marked the beginning of a remarkable 2,200km journey across Malaysia by SG Lim, a man carrying not only physical endurance but also an emotional mission close to his heart. This initiative is deeply personal. It is a promise he made to his late wife, one that he is now fulfilling in her memory after her courageous battle with cancer.
Exabytes was honoured to stand alongside SG Lim and the many supporters present that day. Our team members, including several passionate runners within the organisation, laced up their shoes and joined the flag off to show solidarity and encouragement as SG embarked on this life changing journey.
A Run Fueled by Purpose
Run for Gold is more than a long distance run. It is a mission to raise awareness and funds for children battling cancer in Malaysia, with proceeds supporting the National Cancer Society Malaysia and the Home of Hope. Every step SG takes represents strength, remembrance, and a commitment to making a difference in the lives of young patients and their families.
As SG himself shared during one of his meetings with Exabytes, “I don’t set a limit. I want to raise as much as I can for the children.”
That statement resonated deeply with everyone present. It reflects the spirit of Run for Gold, a cause that goes beyond targets and numbers, focusing instead on impact, compassion, and collective support.
