It’s been 56 years since our nation roared “Merdeka!” together at Dataran Merdeka, lead by our beloved Tunku Abdul Rahman. Many things have changed, and we’ve come a long way to get to where we are now.
If we only had sampans to bring us from one place to another then, now we have cars, airplanes and LRTs to take us to where we want fast. If we only had small black and white TV back then, now we have 152″ ultra cool, ultra slim plasma TV in vivid colors to color our life. And if we only had snail mail to wish our friend “Selamat Hari Merdeka” back then, thanks to the beauty of the Internet, now we can wish the very same thing on our social media platforms, email, even publish it on our website for the world to see, in less than a minute!
Yes, how things have changed. But one thing remains — we are still the one nation that we were, and will continue to be one for the rest of our generations.
