A Memorable Visit to Aquaria KLCC with the Indigenous Kids from Sg. Lallang, Semenyih

0

Time passes like lightning and we are now in the month of September. Looking back, there was a very meaningful trip in August in which Exabees and the adorable indigenous kids (orang asli) from the rural village of Semenyih visited KLCC Aquaria, a state-of-the-art oceanarium showcasing over 5000 different exhibits of aquatic and land-bound creatures.

Thanks to CEO Chan for fully sponsoring the fun-filled day trip, and the Church of Holy Family, Kajang for organizing this event, so that the children and Exabees had the chance to get to know each other while interacting with the marine life / live reptiles and discover these amazing creatures.

Headed by Lynn, one of the volunteers from the church, 8 of us together with 37 very eager children gathered at the entrance of Aquaria KLCC at 11am before checking in for an exciting trip.

The whole experience was an eye opener for the kids, as it was the first time for quite a number of them to set foot in KL, let alone a huge indoor oceanarium.

Besides watching the beautiful marine creatures with their own eyes, in the aquaria, visitors were allowed to extend their hands into the pond and have physical contact with them.

We were thrilled to see how excited and happy the kids were when touching the living fish with their own hands.

Next, we were on to see various underwater species swimming around in giant fish tanks; some of them had the size bigger than an adult human.

In addition, the charming children were also shown by the aquaria’s personnel how sea creatures such as turtles and some giant fish were fed and they were truly intrigued by that.

Towards the end of the trip, we watched “a giant TV” which showed the picture of life under the sea, only this time it was not an image projected by a TV.

Seats were also made available to those who wish to sit down and observe the creatures for a longer time.

And certainly, we wouldn’t want the children to go back with an empty stomach. Still sitting and watching the “ocean giant TV”, the kids were treated to the delicious McDonald’s meals.

Once again, a thousand thanks to CEO Chan and members of the Church of Holy Family, Kajang for making this trip a very cherished and memorable experience.

Having a strong password protects you from cybercrime and at the same time you can have a safer online transaction. This will ease your workflow and also have a better and enhanced user-experience with other parties. Today we will share some easy tips on how to create a stronger password so that you prevent yourself from all the cyber security vulnerabilities out there.

Make your passwords with proper length so you can remember easily. We strongly recommend 12 or more characters.

Make sure you utilize all the keys in your keyboard including small letters and capital letters as well.

SiteLock Is Like a House Alarm System!

SiteLock is like a house alarm system

What happens when you forget to close your house door? The outcome might be devastating as thieves or other ill-intentioned people will take the advantage to break in and steal valuables from your home.

A website without SiteLock is similar to a house without an alarm system! Moreover, since hacking directed to steal your customers’ financial / personal details is usually automated, a website without SiteLock is even MORE VULNERABLE than a house without an alarm system!

Similarities between SiteLock and a house alarm:

A house alarm SiteLock
1 When a house is installed with an alarm, it will ring / alert the house owner if the door is not closed properly. If SiteLock finds any weakness or vulnerability which exposes the website to hacking in the future, it will alert the website owner via email and SiteLock control panel.
2 With this alert, house owner will need to take action to close and lock the door properly so that it does not give thieves the advantage to break in. With SiteLock, website owner will need to log into SiteLock control panel to fix the vulnerability.
3 There are possibilities that the house owner did not lock the door properly and still there is no break-in. Even if an alarm system is installed, it will not be able to prevent break-ins completely; but it definitely helps to reduce the possibilities. If website owners follow the instructions to fix vulnerabilities, the possibilities of hacking will reduce significantly. Even if SiteLock is installed, it does NOT guarantee that the website will not be hacked.

SiteLock works wonders in protecting your website and the P&C information of your customers.

It ALERTS you whenever your website has vulnerabilities by recommending all the solutions you need to keep the risk of being attacked to the minimum.

Besides that, one of the best website scanners, such as Sucuri Website Security Platform, also performs the same function as SiteLock. Malware attacks, hackers, threats, DDoS, and spam prevention can be taken care of by Sucuri.

Last but not least, it helps to increase your online sales as whenever the sign of SiteLock or Sucuri is spotted on a website, customers know that they can shop with confidence and a piece of mind!

Exabytes-MDeC pact to bring the cloud to MSC companies

0
  • Collaboration to make cloud-hosting more accessible to SMEs
  • Will help MSC Malaysia achieve its national cloud targets

WEB-HOSTING and cloud-hosting provider Exabytes Network Sdn Bhd has joined forces with the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) to implement the MSC Malaysia Cloud Initiative’s SaaS (Software as a Service) Acceleration Program.

The progam aims to provide an ideal environment for Malaysian small and medium ICT companies to transform themselves into world-class companies, Exabytes said in a statement.

Exabytes-MDeC pact to bring the cloud to MSC companiesAccording to Exabytes chief executive officer and founder Chan Kee Siak, the partnership is in response to the growing competitiveness of Malaysian SMEs in leveraging the cloud computing ecosystem in Malaysia for their business operations.

“[This] is part of Exabytes’ corporate objective to develop the Malaysian ICT sector in line with the maturing local market of more savvy providers and consumers,” he said.

Chan says that the program opens up opportunities for local providers to grow their business both locally and regionally.

MDeC is Malaysia’s ICT custodian which manages the MSC Malaysia initiative. The program above is part of MSC Malaysia’s larger plan to achieve the following objectives:

  • 60 Online Solution Providers on the cloud by end-2012
  • 6,000 New ‘Digital Enterprises’ (Malaysian SMEs utilizing ICT solutions and conducting business online) by end-2015;
  • 1,500 new jobs for engineered positions by end-2015; and
  • 1% share of the global cloud computing market to be contributed by MSC Malaysia companies by 2015.

“Cloud computing is a critical enabler for Malaysia’s ICT sector and for the economy as a whole,” said MDeC chief executive officer Datuk Badlisham Ghazali.

“The MSC Malaysia Cloud Initiative ties back to one of the key targets of MSC Malaysia, which is the infusion of technology across all economic sectors to drive productivity and innovation,” he added.

Exabytes’ cloud-hosting technology solutions and Internet infrastructure fit right into the program to provide a platform for eligible SMEs seeking to conduct a higher percentage of their existing and new commercial undertakings online, the company claimed.

Exabytes said it would offer RM3,000 (US$942) cloud hosting credit to all MSC Status companies. These companies may use the credit to buy any cloud hosting package suitable for them. The credit is valid for six months, subsidized by Exabytes.

For MSC companies which have developed software that can be converted to the SaaS model, MSC Malaysia will subsidize an additional RM15,000 (US$4,708) of cloud hosting credit.

Exabytes will also assist these companies in promoting their services to its more than 60,000 SME customers during roadshows and exhibitions.

Happy Mid Autumn Festival – Exabytes Wishes You Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!

0

The Mid Autumn Festival, also known as the Mooncake Festival, is a significant celebration in the Chinese calendar.

It’s a time when families come together to appreciate the full moon, share mooncakes, and express their wishes for prosperity and happiness.

In Malaysia, where Chinese culture has a strong influence, the Mid Autumn Festival is celebrated with much enthusiasm and unique local twists.

The festival falls on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month, when the moon is at its brightest and fullest.

This 2023 year, the Mid-Autumn Festival will be celebrated on September 29th, and preparations are already underway.

Mooncakes: A Symbol of Unity and Prosperity

Mooncakes are the most iconic element of the Mid Autumn Festival.

These round pastries symbolize unity and prosperity, reflecting the full moon’s completeness.

In Malaysia, traditional mooncakes are filled with lotus seed paste and salted egg yolks, but there are also many innovative flavors like durian, pandan, and even chocolate.

Lantern Parades: Lighting Up the Night

Lantern parades are a highlight of the Mid Autumn Festival in Malaysia.

Children and adults alike take to the streets with colorful lanterns, illuminating the night with a warm, festive glow.

Traditional lanterns are often shaped like animals or mythical creatures and are lit with candles.

However, modern versions use LED lights and come in a variety of shapes and sizes.

Family Gatherings: A Time for Reunion

The Mid-Autumn Festival is a time for family reunions.

Families gather for a special meal, often featuring dishes that symbolize good luck and prosperity.

After dinner, they sit outdoors to admire the moon, share mooncakes, and exchange stories. This tradition reinforces family bonds and creates lasting memories.

Cultural Performances: Showcasing Chinese Heritage

In many Malaysian cities, cultural performances are held to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.

These can include Chinese opera, dragon and lion dances, and martial arts demonstrations.

These performances not only entertain but also preserve and showcase Chinese cultural heritage.

Community Events: Bringing People Together

In the spirit of unity that the festival represents, many Malaysian Chinese communities organize events where everyone is welcome.

These events often feature mooncake-making workshops, lantern-making contests, and even moon-viewing parties.

They provide an opportunity for people of different backgrounds to come together and learn about Chinese culture.

In conclusion, the Mid-Autumn Festival is a cherished celebration in Malaysia, reflecting the country’s rich cultural diversity.

Whether it’s through the sharing of mooncakes, the glow of lanterns, or the joy of family reunions, the festival brings people together and adds a unique charm to Malaysia’s cultural tapestry.
