Always wondered how to get your domain point to your Blogger (Blogspot), Tumblr or WordPress.com website?
Here are the 10 easy steps to having your domain point to your website :
1) When ordering a domain name on the domain seller’s secure order page, you are strongly recommended to also register your domain name with DNS Management.
DNS management offers computer software that controls Domain Name System (DNS) server clusters.
The advantages include reducing human error when editing complex and repetitive DNS data and simplifying the effort required in doing so.
Note: The DNS Management is applicable only to TLD Domains (i.e. .COM, .NET, etc.)
2) After receiving a confirmation email of your domain registration, enter the billing system of your domain seller (Example: billing.exabytes.my/mypanel/login).
3) Click on My Domains.
4) Then, click Manage Domain as shown below.
5) Make sure your Nameservers are set to OpenSRS default DNS. Save the settings.
Then, click on DNS Management at the bottom of the page.
subdomain.yourdomain.com. – CNAME ( Alias ) – yourblog.wordpress.com.
Example for subdomain :
blog.abc.com – CNAME ( Alias ) – abc.wordpress.com
After that, remove other records if there are any.
Save the settings and continue with the post-log-in steps.
Blogger ( Blogspot ) :
7. After an hour or so, go to your Blogger ( Blogspot ) dashboard and click Settings.
8. Under the Basics section, go to Publishing, where you will see your current BlogSpot address.
9. Click on Set up a third-party URL for your blog.
10. Enter your own domain and save. And that’s about it! It should take around 24 hours for the domain to be pointed to your BlogSpot website.
If you are still seeing the error, try again and repeat the whole process.
Tumblr :
7. Click Settings (the gear icon) at the top of your Dashboard and the blog you would like to update on the right side of the page.
8. Click the pencil to the right of the username section and enable “Use a custom domain.” and enter your domain or subdomain.
9. Click “Test your domain” Correct the problems if there are any. Keep testing your domain until it is successful.
10. Click “Save” and you are done! After re-configuring your domain, you must wait up to 72 hours for the changes to take effect.
When you visit the subdomain or domain, you should see a Tumblr error page — this means that the domain is correctly pointing to Tumblr, but that your blog hasn’t been configured to use it yet.
WordPress.com :
7. Once you logged into your main WordPress Reader dashboard, click the “My Sites” tab on the upper left header.
8. Click Domains and click on the button to “Map an Existing Domain”.
Enter your domain and click the Go button.
9. If the name servers or DNS management is set correctly, your domain should be able to be mapped.
10. Finally, after mapping your domain onto WordPress.com, just update your domain or sub-domain as your primary domain at “My Domains” and your domain will be pointed to your website given around 72 hours for completion.
If it is unable to see the change, clear your browser cache and try again.
