5 Benefits of Exabytes Business Listing

What is Business Listing for Your Business?

How do you look for a trendy restaurant in town? I think most of us will search online.

Can your business be found on Google Search, Google Map, Waze, Facebook, etc?

If the answer is No, then you should probably get started and make sure your business information such as contact info, opening hours and other details are up-to-date on all online listing platforms.

But making manual updates on every single platform such as Google, Facebook, Waze, Foursquare, etc can be a real time waster.

That’s why you need Business Listing to help you update your business information across all online listing platforms.

In short, Business Listing is a platform for your business to update your information, publish offers and collect customer reviews.

These include Google Map, Facebook, Waze, Foursquare and more. You can add your brand images and logo so that they will show up on all platforms.

5 Benefits of Business Listing to Business owners:

You may be wondering what business listing can do and how it benefits your business.

1. More Customers

When you update your business information, offers and updates on the business listing, it helps your customers to find your business easily through Facebook, Google and more.

Customers can find your restaurants on Waze because your business is pinned on the map.

2. Boost Search Engine Ranking

When your business information is updated and has correct listing across platforms, it helps to improve your search engine ranking.

Update your business information (name, address, phone) and directories consistently across multiple platforms.

Search engines will then perceive your business location as legitimate and place it higher in search results.

You definitely want your customers find you instead of your competitors.

3. Get Backlinks for Your Website

When your business is listed on all popular online platforms such as Facebook, Waze and more, they will bring traffic links to your website.

Google will recognize them as high-quality backlinks and it helps to improve your website SEO.

Customers will find you instead of your competitors when they search and buy their desired products/services.

4. Save Time

With Business Listing, you can manage and update all business information, publish your latest events, offers and updates with 1 single click.

You can just sit back and relax, and business listing service provider will synchronize all the information on all online listings.

Now you can spend your valuable time to increase your sales and revenue.

5. Gain Control Over Your Business Info & Reviews

You can always update your info online if there are any changes about your business. Keep your business updated so customers can find you easily.

This also prevents your competitors from putting misleading information on your business.

According to surveys, almost all consumers (97%) conduct local product or service research online.

Business Listing collects them all in one place so you can respond to them directly, whether at home or on the go.

4. Bloggers need Managed WordPress Hosting too!

Liew Cheon Fong is now a WordPress consultant from Malaysia, after full-time tech blogging for over a decade. He is also very active in the WordPress community.

Web hosting and bloggers aren’t always best friends. According to Liew, bloggers want the best infrastructure for their blog, and when a lot of hosting companies out there are offering hosting for less than the cost of a cup of coffee, the nightmare starts for some of the bloggers. Liew added that this might happen when a blog starts to grow its website traffic and hits the bandwidth or disk space limitation easily. Moreover, he also shared that many WordPress bloggers are worried about having their blog updated, which can cause failure on certain functions of the website.

Key takeaways:

Go for cloud for your traffic and business to grow seamlessly.

5.Speak Their Language

Sam Suresh is the founder of MU DOT MY PLT, a tech development & training company based in Kuala Lumpur. Sam also contributes to WordPress as a Global Community Team member.

He shared about challenges faced by WordPress users when it comes to Web Hosting. Many web hosting companies do not Speak Their Language. 100GB Storages, 1GB RAM — most new WordPress users have no idea how much storage they need and how many visitors the web hosting service can handle. He hoped web hosting companies will take the initiative to guide and provide more information on this.

Key takeaways:

To all the web hosts out there, speak your customers’ language!

6.Sell Value-Added Services Rather Than Infrastructure

Patricia Hillebrand is Director of Global Channels at Plesk who is passionate about developing new business opportunities and revenue streams in the cloud.

We all know how to market to GenX and millenials. These generations spent a lot of money during the golden age of hosting but if we still want to be in business tomorrow, it’s time to start marketing to the next generation.

Gen Z will make up 40% of the world population as of 2020 and represent an enormous buying power. The challenge is that they are the first true digital natives and these young people completely differ from yesterday’s.

There’s no choice but to drop traditional marketing methods if we want them to buy from us.

Key takeaways:

It’s time to start marketing to the next generation, Gen Z.
– Take them seriously
– Social media will be your bread and butter
– Mobile marketing should be your primary platform
– Speak their language
– Develop unique products and campaigns

– Personalise your brand’s vision and mission

9. Panel Discussion: How Digital Transformation Affects the Hosting Industry

Gavin Gibson, COO and Co-Founder Dreamescape Networks, Singapore
Andy Saw, COO, Exabytes Networks, Malaysia
Manoj Dhanda, CEO and Founder – MicroHost, India

Discussion Topic: Technology is radically changing many aspects of our daily life, and in the midst of digitalization transformation, hosting providers are facing fresh challenges to serve generation Z. Just like the Plesk team, it has to develop Obsidian to improve and keep up with the trend. Do you know how many litres of coffee it took to develop Obsidian?

So, what are the fundamental skills to driving different needs and priorities?

How can service providers steadily grow the competitive market and at the same time secure existing core users?

Summary:

Understand what your customers are looking for and provide a suitable service to them with support and advice. At the same time, bundle the cloud services to customers as a value addon. It depends on how you position your services to the client and also meeting what they really want from your services.

The most important note to remember is that we must be there on the channel that our audience is visiting regularly. Come out with different value proposition/solutions compared to competitors like Alibaba and AWS cloud.

Keys to selling to Generation Z: fast response time, engage with them more often. Keep it simple as a solution to help them achieve what they desire with your services.

Summary: WHY Plesk Obsidian?

Plesk Obsidian enables web professionals to Better and Intelligently Manage Servers, Apps, Websites and Hosting. Run your servers supported by a more secure and a more reliable backend. Plesk Obsidian now comes with a newly optimized user interface that was introduced in this version of Plesk to let users navigate easily.

It is a proven powerful management platform that supports digital transformation in cloud, besides adding value to your existing cloud/hosting infrastructure. The main benefits of Plesk Obsidian? It helps developers to enhance their web performance, manage caching, smart updates, staging, backup and much more. In other words, it’s your powerful Server, Website and WordPress Management Platform in the Cloud.

And that’s the reason why we offer Plesk managing tools for FREE on our SSD-VPS, especially Plesk WordPress Toolkit, the most complete, optimized, secure and versatile toolkit for WordPress users. We decided to be the first to offer Plesk in our WordPress hosting plans, and let WordPress users enjoy the benefits of it, which in turn would help to simplify their tasks and management.

Lastly, many thanks to Plesk for their gifts and goodies!

In a Nutshell

If you were to ask us to attend this event again, we would say ‘YES, Definitely!’
The Plesk  experts at the event gave us so many valuable ideas and tech insight. Moreover, the event gave us a new perspective and the opportunity to connect with many awesome people.

SSL Certificates Explained – Secure Your Website SSL Today!

0

ssl and ssl certificates explained

We know that web service providers such as Google are penalizing sites that don’t use SSL.

Even web browser companies such as Mozilla have started alerting users more actively when they visit sites that don’t have these certificates.

What exactly are these SSL certificates?

Why are they so vital that their use is practically enforced?

In a nutshell, an SSL certificate helps to make sure the website is safe for browsing.

SSL is digital identity cards that prove that website is secure and it’s the official website owner as the certificate mention who they are.

The SSL protocol is what acts as a secure bridge between the website and a browser.

And, the SSL certificate acting as the key to unlock the door.

This protects anything which passes between browser and website, making sure your data is safe.

If you’re not convinced, think about the times when you’ve logged on to online banking portals, or even accessed your email account.

The SSL connection is a vital portion of what ensures your online privacy and the safety of your information on a particular website/portal.

If you don’t have an SSL certificate for your website today, there is basically no assurance of data security.

Consumers today are also being rapidly educated regarding online security, so if you don’t catch up quickly, you might lose visitors even if not your search engine standings.

How the SSL Process Works

For the SSL process to work, there are two key components needed – the capability to work with the SSL protocol and a valid SSL certificate.

On the user end, there is no concern since the design of the web browsers is able to handle SSL protocols.

It is usually on the web server end that needs action to ensure that an SSL certificate is properly obtained and installed.

A secure connection is possible once these two conditions met.

SSL process explain, SSL or TLS handshake
SSL process explain, SSL or TLS handshake, ibm.com

When a visitor wants to access a website, the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) sends a request to the web server.

This establishes what is known as a handshake. Then what follows is the exchange of SSL information.

During the process, browser and web server compare notes, so to speak, on important information such as SSL version, compression types and other key parameters.

The web server will match the highest level of SSL after such information exchanged.

Usually, that is supported by both parties and sends a certificate to the web browser.

From that, the web browser and server can encrypt, and decrypt communications sent between one another.

Thus, securing the transmission.

The entire process happens quickly and with no user intervention necessary.

It is a completely invisible, yet seamless part of the browsing experience.

How To Check SSL Certificates?

You can check SSL certificate details by clicking on the padlock icon on your visiting website.

Just to be sure, it would also be better to use a tool like SSL Shopper which can verify the validity of the certification on your domain.

It’s fast and it’s free!

Types of SSL Available

As with everything involved in the world of security, there are various levels and types you need to know before purchase SSL certificate.

These are mainly broken up by the needs of various levels of users.

a. Domain Validated (DV) Certificates

DV certificates are the most common and easily available.

Almost any website can easily obtain one of these.

The process only requires that the website owner prove domain ownership and do not even need to provide proof of identity.

Unfortunately, because of these lax requirements, there have been multiple cases of websites using them for less than legal purposes.

b. Organization Validated (OV) Certificates

OV certificates are a small step up.

OVs need to validate the one who applies for the certificates has an organization.

For example, a company website can apply for an OV certificate since they can prove not only domain ownership and also that they are a valid organization.

c. Extended Validation (EV) Certificates

EV certificates are even better and have all the benefits of OVs plus more.

In the application process, a paper trail is generated which allows anyone to check on the validation process used in obtaining the certificate.

If any customers encounter defrauded cases by a site which has an EV certificate, the paper trail can help them seek legal remedies.

How Much is a Paid SSL? And Which Should You Get?

The cost of obtaining one vary greatly.

So do shop around before deciding which one you’ll get. For example, some SSL certificates start from ~RM10/mo to RM200/mo, depending on different providers types of SSL as above and protection coverages.

>> Check out our SSL certificate price

Of these three types of certificates, DV is mainly used by personal sites such as blogs.

This way, they have a low-cost means of basic assurance to visitors while not having to go through the process (and pay the cost) of an EV or OV certificate.

In fact, some corporate websites may opt for them as well. This is especially those which do not manage financial or user details.

When it comes to EV or OV certificates, the extended process means more cost and time needed.

As such, they are often only applied for by websites which need to give their users the highest levels of security assurance.

This is especially true of any websites which need to process financial information. Such as an online shopping portal like Amazon.

Get Your SSL Certificate With Us!

Because so many websites need SSL now, it has become increasingly easy to find somewhere to obtain one legitimately.

From free certificates to commercial ones.

They are available through web service providers or even security specialists.

ssl certificate landing page
Depending on your needs, Exabytes offers a wide range of SSL certificates at an affordable price.

The major differences between a paid SSL certificate and a free SSL certificate are often the support, warranty, level of validation and validity period.

In terms of security, there’s no difference between both.

Learn More about Free vs Paid SSL Certificate

After you have purchased an SSL certificate from 3rd party providers, you need to install the certificate to your website manually (we will help you handle this complicated part, if you choose to get from us).

The steps for installing the certificate might not be as easy as it seems for some people.

As such, it’s recommended for beginners to purchase the SSL certificate from your hosting company.

As the technical team will help you with the installation.

After you get your SSL certificate, make sure that you double-check with the installation. Ensure you do it correctly.

Conclusion

Google Chrome browser will mark website without SSL with ‘Not Secure’.

In fact, more than half of all sites online have already done so.

It is quite a painless process, so it’s really no excuse not to have SSL certification.

For those who need better support, OV and EV certificates do cost more, but this is because they need it to process financial information of their users.

The cost is justifiable, and Exabytes will help to make sure all setup is done.
