success elements of a business website

Have your wondered what makes your business website attractive to visitors?

What helps your website to convert more customers and retain them?

1. Keep it Simple. Have a Good Content!

Most of us have this misconception that the more content a website has, the better the website is.

However, a website that is cluttered and overloaded with information does not give users a good website experience.

Of course, certain types of business website need extra content.

In this case, it’s recommended that the content be well laid out to ensure user-friendliness.

Apart from website content, pay good attention to your business logo, main navigation menu, search box, social media integration tools, media files and sitemap.

Remember, to generate business enquiries, your website should capture your visitors’ attention within the first few seconds.

2. Contact Information

Many business websites have good website design, modern layout and great content, but when visitors need the contact information, they have a hard time looking for it.

This happens to a lot of websites.

In addition, whenever you get an inquiry, respond in the shortest time possible.

3. Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Love it or hate it, SEO is another critical factor for a business website.

New competitors emerge every day and it’s always getting tougher to rank top on a search engine result page.

Get yourself updated all the time with the latest news and announcements of Google SEO.

Bear in mind that SEO results aren’t instant but can give you a big advantage in the future.

In other words, the newer your website is, the more patient you will need to be.

Start now, as this is the best time to know your competition and apply good strategy for your business website.

4. Make Your Site Mobile-Friendly

Keep in mind that more and more visitors are browsing on their mobile phones.

Are you aware of the impact brought by the Mobilegeddon?

The truth is, if your business website is not mobile friendly, it will result in lower ranking in mobile search results.

In conclusion, the four important success factors mentioned above are completely crucial to build a great business website.

Never think that your website is ‘done’. If you want to attract more visitors, more conversions and more revenue, invest time on your business website.

5 Things You Need to Know Before Purchasing a Server

0

Do You Know What is Server

Whether you own a small business or large corporation, you will always need a safe and the right place to store all your important and valuable business data.

Buying a network server is certainly a huge investment.

So buff up your server knowledge and choose the one that best suits your needs.

Here are a few things to consider before

Purchasing a Server

1. Budget

As you know, servers are not cheap.

They might cost you tens of thousands of Ringgits, depending on the specs or model.

That’s why budget should be a major consideration.

Once you’ve worked out your budget, you can make your decision based on brand, size and warranty details.

2. Space

Do you know that servers come in different shapes and sizes?

There are 3 major types of servers:

Rack Servers: Designed to be installed in a rack with multiple bays

Tower Servers: Standalone; look like a tower PC

Blade Servers: Typically thinner; able to minimize physical space required (though they have some disadvantages such as limited capacity)

As far as space is concerned, you need to make sure that you have sufficient space left in your rack.

Remember 2U and 4U servers require more rack space than a 1U server does.

The same thing applies to other types of servers; you need to ensure that you have space left in the blade server chassis.

3. Storage

Data storage certainly is another major factor when buying a server.

Different servers have varying storage capacities.

There are however, some major exceptions although most of the servers on the market allow the use of two internal hard drives.

Still, for data storage, it depends heavily on the size of your business.

For large business, you could opt for a server with more storage than what you currently require.

For small business, consider a server with less storage capacity.

NOTE: The server you purchase should have at least 30% more space than your current needs to support future growth.

4. Connectivity

When buying a server, it’s easy to miss out on the network connectivity issue because every server on the market includes built-in networking.

If your intention is to make the server act as a cluster node or as a virtualization host server, network connectivity will be even more important.

In this case, they would require more network adapters than a stand-alone server.

Thus it’s important to make sure they have the capacities to accommodate shall additional network adapters are needed.

5. Management

Technical assistance must be available whenever server issues (such as server crashes) arise.

That’s why it’s strongly recommended to place your trust in the company that offers reliable and 24/7 technical support.

So talk to them before choosing your server and make sure they support the server brand you’re choosing.

Last but not least, experience and expertise in server management is also something you should look into when considering a server hosting provider.

The Differences between an Add-on Domain, Subdomain and Parked Domain

0

In this post, we assume that you already know what a domain is. Still, sometimes, it can be really confusing when we try to differentiate different types of domains, such add-on domains, subdomains and parked domains.

Do you know the differences between them?

Add-on Domains

  • What is?

Are you aware that when you sign up for a web hosting account and a domain, you can still register another domain in the future and use the SAME hosting account?

For example, now you have a hosting account and a domain (let’s call it www.domain1.com). A few weeks later, you buy another domain (let’s call it www.domain2.com) to create an additional website. All you need to do is just host the domain on the same web hosting account without paying for hosting again.

In this case, www.domain2.com is the add-on domain.

  • Benefits of using Add-on Domains
    • You can create several domains and websites with the same hosting account
    • It has an independent FTP manager, site statistics and storage bins which are posted automatically
    • SEO benefits: Different sets of keywords can be used to promote the websites from a single hosting account

Subdomains

  • What is?

A Subdomain is extremely useful as it allows you to have a stand-alone website with unique content without having to register for another new domain. Imagine you own the domain www.exabytes.my. To create a blog for your company, you just need to create another subdomain https://www.exabytes.my/blog/

In this case, https://www.exabytes.my/blog/ is the subdomain.

  • Benefits of using Subdomains:
    • Increase search rankings and website traffic
    • It’s easy to install/upload anything to your subdomains
    • Subdomains are free – you can add them at zero cos

Parked Domains

  • What is?

Domain owners use a parked domain to point to their main website. For example, if www.domain1.com  is your main site, you can register another domain www.domain2.com and assign it as a parked domain. When a website visitor visits www.domain2.com , he or she will see the exact same content as on www.domain1.com

In this case, www.domain2.com is the parked domain.

  • Benefits of Parked Domain
    • Increase online visibility with multiple parked domains

Now that you know the differences between them, you can use them to your advantage. For example, an add-on domain can optimize your web hosting space.
