The Best Point of Sale (POS) Systems for All Business Types

Best Point of Sale (POS) Systems

All businesses, whether online or in physical stores, need a point-of-sale (PoS) solution that manages their payments, sales and revenue, inventory, and even sales and marketing.

When it came to accepting payments, all that was required of a business in the past was a cash register.

However, in today’s digital world, businesses also need an effective solution to accept payments, monitor sales, organize inventory, and produce reports.

What is a POS System?

Sales transactions can be made easier with the help of a system known as a point-of-sale POS system. A cash register is a typical point-of-sale (POS) technology that most people are familiar with.

Today’s point-of-sale POS systems, which are made up of both hardware and software, often have a barcode scanner, a card reader, a cash drawer, and a receipt printer. Touchscreens are frequently used as the consumer interface.

A credit card scanner that is connected to a tablet computer is the most basic form of today’s POS systems.

In this post, we’re happy to have put together a list of the best POS system solutions you can use in Malaysia.

In Closing

All in all, using the right POS system is critical for all types of businesses. After all, if you don’t properly handle your company’s finances, things can easily spiral out of control at work.

This is where a point-of-sale (POS) system comes in handy. Lastly, it is best to choose a POS system that also helps in driving new customers and generating sales and revenue.

We hope this post provides all the information you need to make an informed decision when it comes to choosing the right system for your business.

In a Nutshell

There were different types of Chinese New Year video ads presented by different brands, and all of them were amazing in their creativity.

From what I observed, the colour scheme seems to be more of a modern Y2K style, which gives the vibe in the videos a feel of the 2000s.

In addition, many of the brands are featuring Malaysian social media influencers, which is a great strategy to reach younger audiences with their ads.

Watching all these videos also reminds me of Chinese traditions such as food, clothing, and culture as well as family.

It was great spending time watching these videos produced sincerely by different popular brands in Malaysia.

We at Exabytes wish you and your family a very happy Chinese New Year!

May the year ahead be filled with joy and happiness!

7 Digital Export Trends for 2026

0

It’s that time of the year again. As B2B companies plans for the year ahead, we’re exploring the key digital export trends that will shape global trade in 2026.

This year, companies worldwide are anticipating various trade turmoils, ranging from global conflict to volatile energy prices and soaring inflation. Thankfully, the ability to digitally reach customers locally and globally without stretching operating budgets helped provide an important buffer.

But how can digital selling change your company for the better in 2026? What can B2B sellers expect from the competition? By how much will buyer expectations change in the coming year? Here’s a rundown of the key digital export trends to look out for in 2026.

The coming year will see some enduring trends continue, like the rise of personalization and video marketing in B2B e-commerce. But some new trends will take center stage, such as a fall in the time consumers spend online.

Being up to date on these trends, and understanding their underlying data, will be crucial to business success in 2026. Let’s dive in.

digital migration

1. Digital Migration

We’ve discussed how more companies have transitioned to digital selling since 2020. This trend is set to continue in 2026. According to data from the OECD, 70% of small companies surveyed said the impact of COVID-19 drove them to make greater investments in digital technologies.

With the enduring shocks of the pandemic, more businesses will go digital. The relative certainty of digital selling will be just what many companies need to keep operations ticking over in the coming year.

One implication of this trend is that B2B online sellers will likely see greater competition next year. If your competitors aren’t already online, the odds are that they will get online in 2026. Consequently, if your business is not yet digital, you should plan to transition by next year.

digital marketing and adminstration

2. Digital Marketing and Administration

More small companies will find their way online in 2026. But many of the newcomers will look to make a gradual entry into the digital selling space. The OECD suggests that new digital market entrants will prioritize electronic marketing and administrative functions.

Digital marketing is already a big draw for companies, especially considering that 93% of all interactions on the internet happen through search engines. With digital marketing, new entrants can immediately start working to gain a share of those interactions.

There’s also likely to be a rise in companies using digital tools for administrative purposes. For example, popular products like Notion, Evernote, and Canva are options businesses can employ for organizing and clerical tasks.

data-led marketing

3. Data-led Marketing

Marketing is increasingly a precise exercise focused on targeting specific prospects. We’re now well beyond the days of B2B marketing strategies hinged on guesswork. With data-led marketing, businesses are introducing greater accuracy to their marketing. As a result, they can yield better results and gain more insights from previously opaque data sets.

Part of this capability arises from better tools that let companies access and exploit broader data types. There’s a greater variety of data that enables companies to plan, test, and launch successful marketing campaigns. Companies can also apply better data to assess and learn from marketing campaigns.

personalization

4. Personalization

Personalization across various business touchpoints continues to be a key trend for digital exports. Customers don’t want to feel like just one of the thousands – they want to feel seen and heard.

How do you implement personalization in your business practices? Start by incorporating personal details in communications with the client. For example, are you sending cold emails? Simply addressing the customer by their name can help. You can also research the client’s unique needs and incorporate that into your proposition.

Other ways customers seek personalization include how they are offered services and products. For instance, a customer who bought from you expects you to know their previous purchases and leverage that information during a repeat purchase.

time spent online

5. Time Spent Online

People typically spend between six and seven hours on the internet. According to statistics, the average person spends roughly 40% of their waking life accessing an internet-enabled device or service.

But those statistics have fallen recently. Average time spent online fell to 6.47 hours from 6.53 hours in Q4 2021. While this drop isn’t significant, it is an indicator of a likely peak in the overall time that people spend using the internet.

As a result, offering digital content to users may become trickier for businesses. There’s now a greater need to ensure they’re providing enduring value. Otherwise, they may find users leaving their content for other digital consumables.

video marketing

6. Video Marketing

Video is a compelling medium due to its ability to engage by showing. So, it’s unsurprising that video marketing continues to gain ground in digital export. Platforms like Alibaba.com incorporate video into their marketing channels to help foster greater engagement with buyers.

While short-form videos are currently the most popular, there is scope for growth in the consumption of long-form and live-streamed videos. Most important is ensuring that prospects see images that align with their buying intentions.

real-time messaging

7. Real-time Messaging

Finally, along with growing buyer preference for rapid service, real-time messaging is emerging as a key trend for B2B digital exports. Buyers don’t want to wait hours or days to receive responses from B2B sellers.

Consequently, sellers are implementing methods to ensure real-time or near-real-time buyer engagement. These include the use of chatbots incorporated into their e-commerce store. For sellers with a presence on B2B marketplaces, one option is to employ mobile applications they can access on the go.

MOG eyewear Logo 2022

Retail Hero Chapter 5: MOG EYEWEAR

Retail Hero Chapter 5: MOG EYEWEAR

Introduction:MOG Logo

2022 marks the beginning of the New Retail era, where  “big data” and “online-offline integration” (aka OMO) have become increasingly relevant for businesses nowadays.

However, certain businesses, especially service based businesses such as the optical industry offering eye assessments and professional consultation, would be tempted to know if online-offline integration is necessary for the industry. “Can big data help my business?”

To clear up the questions, MOG Group, an established optical company with 92 retail stores across the country, told the Exabytes New Retail team how the company made a difference for its brand through big data and digitalization and successfully made a mark in the business world.

MOG Group’s CEO, Datin Bernice Low, revealed to us in a recent interview that digital transformation is an urgent move for the optical industry. She stressed that this isn’t just about technology; it’s also about making eye care services more accessible to everyone.

Pioneering Exceptional Eye Care Services; Help the World See Better

Starting from a small store in Kepong 26 years ago, MOG is now a leading optical brand in Malaysia. MOG believes that everyone deserves to see the best of the world and aspire to be the trusted eye care provider for the community, fulfilling all eye care needs.

Datin Bernice Low, said that a pair of glasses play a different role in different stages of life. So, the idea behind MOG isn’t about selling products, but to provide the best-fit eye care solution for each customer based on their needs, lifestyle, and eye health condition.

“Our relationship with our customers extend way beyond an in-store transaction. It is our core practice to establish a solid bond with our customers by putting their needs above all else, be precise in our consultation, and always maintaining a deep understanding of their eye health situation and needs. We grow with them through different stages of their lifes.”

During the pandemic, most companies have implemented home offices, and the use of electronic products has also increased significantly. The situation has resulted in a rise in vision problems among adults and even children (online learning), which has led to an increasing demand for glasses.

“People who had perfect vision were suddenly short-sighted; people who were short-sighted now have higher power; astigmatism has become more serious,” said Datin Bernice Low.

She subsequently emphasized that the role of MOG is not only to correct vision for customers but also to raise vision health awareness and provide professional eye care advice and services.

Online and Offline Integration; Improve Customer Experience

Digital transformation is very important for every industry in the post-pandemic era, especially in 2022, the first year of New Retail.

MOG is certainly no exception.

For MOG, the most significant benefits derived from digitization are the provision of an improved customer experience and better vision care.

“Using the power of technology, we’ve launched MOG’s very own 6-in-1 Vision Experience to give customers a personalized consultation that takes into account their health, medical history, lifestyle, and more when performing a vision assessment to get highly accurate results. Through our investment in advanced hospital-grade equipment, we’re able to bridge the gap in making eye care more accessible to our community and ensuring to provide customers with the most comfortable vision experience possible befitting their needs.

Moreover, MOG has launched its own APP so that customers can interact with the brand through more convenient channels besides their actively running social media and website. Essentially, this has helped MOG to more effectively interact with online and offline members, understand their needs and consumption patterns using big data, and most importantly, enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.

“The optical industry is an industry that integrates humanization and professionalism. Therefore, we must integrate online convenience with offline physical interaction so that online and offline can coexist and merge to offer a complete customer experience.”

Begin with the end in mind; Great retail begin with detail

When asked about the future, Datin Bernice Low said that MOG has two major plans. The first one is to set up an MOG fund, which will provide vision protection for the community in need, especially children. The second plan is to establish their vision care academy to shape the next talent and grow the industry while withstanding the belief of helping the world see better.

Datin Bernice Low says that a child’s eyesight will affect their physical and mental development, including their learning abilities, their social skills, their sports and recreational activities, and more. Overall, poor vision can have detrimental effect on the quality of a child’s growth and impact their life adversely. Therefore, she hopes to help children in need improve their vision using the aforementioned fund while raising awareness among parents and the public so that more attention is placed on children’s vision care.

“We also hope to set up an academy to train more professionals and pass on the belief of helping the world see better through exceptional care and precise consultation. Through this initiative, we hope to continuously influence our future generation to carry on the legacy of the optical industry.”

How do I Start Google AdSense? Make Money From a Website

Start Google AdSense & Make Money

Basic Knowledge For Beginners

Is Google AdSense same as Google Ads?

Google Ads is a platform that lets advertisers place ads on Google, as well as across its network of advertising partners.

Different types of ads are available to you, including search ads, display ads, and video ads. These can provide you with the opportunity to reach potential customers by displaying your advertising on different formats such as youtube videos or emails

On the other hand, Google AdSense allows publishers to display ads on their website and earn a share of the revenue generated with those ads.

Publishers can use Google's AdSense to make money and get more visitors to their website by displaying targeted ads.

When a visitor clicks on an ad, the publisher will receive a thirty percent share of the revenue generated.

Conclusion: Google Ads is used by advertisers and AdSense is used by publishers to display ads on their site.

One of the easiest and most efficient ways to generate revenue from a website is to use Google AdSense to monetize your website or app visitors with display advertising.

However, while it is a basic principle, one must learn some Google Ads intricacies in order to succeed.

Google ads revenue is expected to rise 8.2 percent in 2023 to $75.9 billion, before rising another 6.7 percent to $81 billion in 2024.

What is Google AdSense, and How Does It Work?

Google AdSense is a network of advertisements that connects publishers and advertisers.

Publishers join their websites to the Google ads network, allowing advertisers to bid on the display of their advertisements on those websites.

If a website visitor clicks on or watches an ad, the publisher is paid a percentage of the advertiser’s ad spend. Google AdSense deducts the difference as a charge.

What do you need to apply for a Google AdSense account?

Google is picky about who it lets into its Google Ads network. They want to keep the quality of their websites high and the integrity of their Google Adsense network intact.

There are several basic conditions for Google ads that any publisher must meet.

Users should be:

  • 18 years of age.
  • Have an active Gmail account that is not associated with a Google AdSense account.
  • One must have a website that complies with all of Google ads terms of service.

One must adhere to the Google AdSense program requirements, which include having a website with at least 30 pages of unique material that is at least three months old and generating traffic.

The more visitors the website receives, the more one earns by watching ads.

How to Make a Google Adsense Account

Google Adsense

  1. Please go to https://www.google.com/adsense/start
  2. Click the “Get Started” button.
  3. Access your Google Account.
  4. Enter the URL of the website where you wish advertising to appear.
  5. Select if you want Google AdSense to provide you with personalized advice and performance recommendations.
  6. Choose a payment nation or area.
  7. Examine and agree to the Terms and Conditions.
  8. Click the “Start Using Google AdSense” button.
  9. You’ve successfully logged into your new account.

Once authorized, you may begin running Google AdSense advertisements and earn money by watching ads.

Types of Google AdSense Ads

Google AdSense Ads Example

1. Display ads

Display ad units that are responsive and fit into the majority of screen widths. These Google ads work effectively in practically any place.

The primary distinction is that Google Ads is used by advertisers, whereas Google AdSense is utilized by publishers.

Google Ads has been around for a longer time. Google Ads launched in 2000, while Google AdSense debuted in 2003.

Google Ads allows people to advertise on Google.com, the Google Search Network, and the Google Display Network.

Businesses use Google Ads to deliver targeted traffic to their website, with the goal that some of those visits will convert to sales. Advertisers pay Google a fee for each ad click.

Google AdSense allows publishers to monetize their websites or blogs by earning money from relevant Google Adverts ads placed next to their content.

Each time one of these advertisements is clicked on, the publishers earn a little reward.

How to create a Google Ads account?

A Google Ads account is simple to set up. Simply establish a Google account, sign in to Google Ads using your Google account email and password, and then choose the time zone and currency choices.

Google AdSense registration is more involved. One must submit an application that includes the following information:

  • Website URL
  • Website language
  • Account type (individual or business)
  • Name
  • Address
  • Phone number

Setting maximum bid levels for search phrases in Google Ads allows marketers to get an estimate of how much they’ll pay.

Publishers of Google AdSense, however, keep what they keep. More precisely, they have no influence over the cost per click or cost per impression values of their ads.

They can still seek greater cash by creating websites devoted to a competitive industry and increasing traffic to their sites.

Conclusion

Google is particularly concerned about the quality of its ad network. They are quite strict in terms of the standards, rules, and regulations that must be followed.

That is why, in order to begin using Google Ads, all guidelines must be followed.

Google AdSense runs on a revenue-sharing model in which the publisher receives a portion of the money earned by clicks or impressions.

The Complete Guide to Firewalls For Small Businesses

0

According to Statista’s Cybersecurity Outlook, the worldwide cost of cybercrime will rise over the next five years, from $8.44 trillion in 2022 to $23.84 trillion in 2027.

As the number of cybercrimes increases by the day, individuals and organizations must safeguard their information. However, they all face various challenges in the execution of cyber safety processes.

This is where firewall as a concept, device and software is of massive help for organisations and enterprises looking towards safe guarding their hardware.

What Exactly is a Firewall?

Firewall cybersecurity technology

Firewalls are cybersecurity technologies that monitor incoming and outgoing network traffic and allow or deny data packets according to a set of cybersecurity rules for network firewalls.

Network nodes are frequently shielded from incoming and outgoing data traffic, as well as certain applications, using firewall software.

Firewalls use software, hardware, or cloud-based solutions to defend networks from external threats.

The fundamental objective of a firewall is to prevent harmful traffic and data packets from passing through while allowing genuine traffic to get through.

Firewall software analyses inbound traffic based on specified security rules and filters traffic from unprotected or suspect sources to avoid attacks.

At computer entry points known as ports, where information is shared with external devices, traffic is monitored.

Why Does One Need a Firewall?

Firewalls are typically used to defend against malware and network-based threats. A network firewall can also help to avoid application-layer assaults. These firewalls act as gates or barriers.

Firewall software monitors every attempt to link our machine to a different network. They will not allow data packets to flow unless they originate or terminate from a user-specified trustworthy source.

Network firewalls are designed to identify and respond to network assaults as rapidly as feasible.

They may defend the network with rules and do fast inspections to detect any questionable activities. In a nutshell, the firewall may act as a traffic controller.

Some of the Biggest Hazards of Not Having a Firewall Are as Follows:

1# Source Code

A firewall prevents unauthorized access to other networks when it is present on a computer. This implies that it will accept any form of connection that is made through someone.

In this circumstance, it is not feasible to identify threats or assaults passing via our network. We expose our devices to malicious users and other undesired sources if we do not employ a firewall.

2# Compromise or Data Loss

We open up our gadgets to everyone without a firewall. This means that anyone with access to our device, including the network, has full power over it.

In this circumstance, cybercriminals can easily destroy our data or utilize our personal information.

3# Outages in the network

Anyone could obtain access to our network and shut it down if we didn’t have a firewall. We may have to invest precious time and money to restore our network.

As a result, using firewall software to safeguard our network, computers, and data from attackers is vital.

The Advantages of Using Small Business Firewall Solutions

Small business firewall solutions offer significant advantages in protecting sensitive data and network infrastructure. With features like monitoring, access control, database security, cloud protection, virus detection, and local network safeguarding, these solutions provide a comprehensive cybersecurity defense for small businesses in today’s digital landscape.

1. Monitoring and Alerting

Modern firewall solutions offer robust monitoring and alerting features. These tools act as high-tech traffic lights, monitoring network flow and activities. By recording incoming network activity and identifying patterns, a firewall can improve threat detection and enhance security.

2. Access Control

Firewalls play a pivotal role in access control by recognizing and managing incoming requests based on IP addresses. Open access allows all external IP addresses to send traffic, while closed access blocks all traffic except for explicitly allowed IP addresses.

3. Protecting Databases

Firewalls are crucial for securing back-end databases. By allowing only approved application servers with internal IP addresses to connect to the database server, the risk of SQL injection attacks and unauthorized access is mitigated.

4. Cloud Implications

Maintaining a strict firewall policy is critical for small businesses hosting data, applications, and services in the cloud. It helps protect data from exposure and potential hacks, ensuring the security of cloud-based resources.

5. Virus Protection

Modern firewalls go beyond filtering network traffic. They can detect and block malicious requests, providing effective virus protection. Keeping the firewall updated with the latest anti-virus definition files is crucial to ensuring security against new threats.

6. Securing Local Networks

Properly configuring firewalls is essential for protecting local Ethernet and wireless networks. By filtering based on IP addresses and controlling network ports, unauthorized access and potential security breaches can be prevented.

7. Verifying Remote Connections

Using a virtual private network (VPN) solution allows secure remote connections for small businesses. VPNs establish encrypted sessions and assign localized IP addresses, ensuring data security and facilitating remote work without significant firewall configuration changes.

Best Firewall Security Solutions for Small Businesses

The Signs Your Hosting Performance Has Reached Its Capacity, Upgrade Now

Signs Your Hosting Performance Has Reached Its Capacity

Considering the increased demand brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, it is anticipated that businesses and enterprises will look at increasing hosting services they have.

The global market for this is expected to stand at a readjusted CAGR of 18% from 2020 to 2027.

The use of hosting for websites has increased, and one must focus on providing a positive shopping experience by increasing hosting performance for customers.

This may be a powerful leverage point for bringing about a good change in the system.

The size and functionality of website migration plans vary. When starting out, many website owners choose to employ the most basic services with normal hosting performance, which can rapidly leave them with limited options and poor performance.

These shared fundamental plans become constraining over time, and businesses are left with only two options: either upgrade hosting to increase hosting performance or think about website migration.

Here are eight hosting performance indicators that it is time to think about for website migration

1# The site begins to slow down.

Slow websites are aggravating, and visitors are more likely to leave if the site does not load within a few seconds. This may happen because of bad hosting performance.

In addition, if the site takes a long time to load because of traffic or hosting performance, search engines will rank it lower in search results.

This implies that fewer people will see what your website has to offer. If one previously reviewed and improved the basic web vitals through website migration, one might need to upgrade to a new hosting plan with better hosting performance.

2# The website is getting a lot of traffic.

Any website’s performance is heavily influenced by traffic. This activity impacts the permitted hosting performance bandwidth regardless of whether visitors come to read blog posts or download free eBooks.

If you go over a particular amount of bandwidth to increase hosting performance, some hosts can charge a premium or even limit the connections to make the site slower.

Consider hosting performance as bandwidth – a road that leads to the content. The more traffic there is on this stretch of road, the worse the circumstances get.

Upgrading hosting performance by upgrading the hosting plan may make the work easier.

3# The website needs to include pictures and videos.

Everyone adores graphics, photographs, and movies, and everyone expects them to load immediately, which depends on a website’s hosting performance.

Airbnb website

Optimizing the media material for lazy loading, compression, and appropriate formatting might help the site load faster, but at some point, one may have more media than the current hosting package can manage.

When such an experience becomes repetitive in nature, it’s time to upgrade hosting to increase hosting performance.

4# Noticeable Frequently Occurring Downtime

A single second of delay can cost a major retailer hundreds of dollars in lost sales. Not every website will produce this amount of revenue, but it demonstrates how a single second of hosting performance outage may have a significant impact on the bottom line.

Also, consider how downtime caused by poor hosting performance will damage brand trust. How frequently will people return to an online source if it appears to be down every time they visit?

5# Website anticipates a significant increase in visitors soon.

If one is planning a product launch or inviting new participants to a membership site, it is essential to make sure the hosting performance is good.

If there are challenges with the current hosting provider, one could also think of an immediate website migration to a better hosting provider for good hosting performance.

Make sure the site’s hosting performance is prepared to handle greater traffic than normal. When new customers, members, and followers from social media visit the website, the last thing they want to see is an error message or a page that takes more than a few seconds to load.

If a website anticipates a brief increase in traffic, a metered-bandwidth plan with good hosting performance is needed to scale up in real time, or a plan with extra bandwidth may be required.

Alternatively, one can think about website migration to save a few dollars.

6# Inadequate Security Measures

The top web hosting companies will provide the highest level of hosting performance and security available.

Regrettably, this isn’t always the case. In addition, the site may be attacked by a large number of attackers with little defence.

One may maintain vigilance over the website’s safety and security through website migration.

Don’t think that the website is too small to attract the attention of a hacker or a bot attempting to exploit any vulnerability; one should think of website migration to a trusted hosting provider.

7# Inadequate Security Measures

The top web hosting companies will provide the highest level of security available, which is why considering website migration to a good host is important. Regrettably, this isn’t always the case.

And the site may be attacked by numerous attackers with minimal defense.

8# Bandwidth requirements for apps and data

Visitors reading content or downloading files aren’t the sole sources of hosting performance bandwidth.

Many firms will develop and market web-based applications and other online products.

This data transmission from the server to the consumer will use some of the available bandwidth. If a popular app is created, that hosting performance bandwidth will soon be depleted.

What about developing mobile applications? Some will connect those apps to the database of a website in order to increase functionality and save user information, which affects the hosting performance, so one may have to consider a plan upgrade or a website migration.

Conclusion

These are only a few of the elements one may want to keep an eye out for when considering hosting performance or website migration.

Be vigilant about what one wants out of a hosting plan. Don’t settle for something simply because it might save money today; in the future, one may need increased hosting performance or consider website migration.

If you are considering avoiding these types of hosting performance issues, the best option is the Exabytes business website plan or Linux NVMe VPS hosting managed in Malaysia.
