By current live IT capacity, EdgeConneX Cyberjaya leads at 67 MW (scalable to 200 MW). AIMS Data Centre‘s Cyberjaya campus exceeds 100 MW and is Malaysia’s largest independent carrier-neutral colocation operator.
Johor offers 5–10× lower land costs than Singapore, more affordable electricity, Malaysia’s stable investment environment and generous government incentives. Singapore’s own data centre construction moratorium (2019–2022) further accelerated demand into Johor, which is only a 1-hour drive — or causeway crossing — from Singapore’s financial hub. Low-latency connectivity between the two is maintained via dense fibre routes across the Johor Strait.
Common certifications include TIA-942 Tier III or Tier IV, ISO 27001 (information security management), ISO 9001 (quality management), PCI DSS compliance, MSC Malaysia status, and MCMC regulatory compliance. Many facilities also hold SOC 2 Type II. Open DC PE2, Bridge Data Centres and AIMS Data Centre are among those certified to Tier III.
